“I’m just your typical Yorkshire lad from England who has encountered God. He radically changed my life and gave me love, hope, and purpose. Even now, every single day He is molding me, growing me, and stretching me more into who He is! I have the world in my backpack, love in my heart, and excitement in my soul to see how God will use me.
I grew up in Rotherham, UK, and never knew God or had anything to do with Him. I lived the typical teenage life. I thought to myself, “There must be something more to life than this,” but never came to the conclusion of what that something was until I was almost eighteen years old.
One day was invited to church, and while there, I noticed that it wasn’t what I expected. It wasn’t a religion; it a relationship with God. They were people who loved Him, spoke to Him, and He loved and spoke back! Ever since that day, I found myself going back every time I could and longing and aching for the purpose and love I knew God had for me.
On December 23rd, 2007, I made Jesus the Lord of my life and dedicated myself to live for Him. Ever since that day, my life has never been the same. I now walk on this earth with purpose and was immediately changed. That void that said, “There must be something more,” was filled. Jesus completed me.
I’m not proclaiming by any means that I am perfect . . . far from it. In the words of John Newton, “Two things I know; I am a great sinner and Christ is a great Savior.” Every single day I am learning and growing, and it’s a journey like no other. I walk with God and He teaches me, shows me how to love, and challenges me to step out of my comfort zone. At times I fail and fall, but God is right there to pick me up, dust me off, and say “Try again.” I could go on forever talking about how awesome God is, but for the sake of this text entry, I shall cut it short.
In regard to my wife and myself, our heart is just to love God, love people, and help in anyway we can. Our heart’s cry is for the hurt and broken that feel like there is no hope. It is to help people who have suffered physical and sexual violation/ abuse. Our dream is to provide more than just a shelter, but a place that people can call home . . . a place where they are safe, cared for, encouraged, taught life skills and loved. In addition to this, we want to be part of the movement to combat human trafficking. All theses aspects of the ministry will be centered around God and His love. We believe this is a dream from God, and out of it, we want to start a ministry to fulfill this dream called “Home.” This is a big dream for ordinary people, but through God, all things are possible! This will be a long journey, and it is what we want to dedicate our lives to, so please take time to pray for us.” For now we want to support those that are already doing this type of work! That is how ‘Standing for Freedom 2015’ was born.
